Wabuyu aims to retain Uganda Woodball open title

Ndejje University’s Jerry Wabuyu held off opponents to win last year’s Uganda Woodball Open championship tourney with 58 strokes. Having won this year’s beach circuits, he will be the top man as he seeks to defend the men’s singles crown at the event’s fourth edition at MUBS grounds. “I have to do the basic things right,” he said on phone after his training session at the university on Thursday. Wabuyu finished 35th with 136 strokes at the Woodball world cup that was held in Malaysia two months back.

About 11 teams including Bishop Stuart University, Entebbe, Islamic University In Uganda – Females Campus, Kampala University, Kyambogo University, Makerere University Business School, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Ndejje University, Ndejje Woodball Club, Nkumba University and SCJ are expected to take part.

USPA president Mark Namanya is among the few names registered for the two-day tourney.
