MULTIPLE INDUSTRIES CRICKET LEAGUE
Patidar vs. Tornado – Lugogo
Wanderers vs. Charity – Kyambogo
Challengers vs. Nile – Entebbe
Warriors vs. SKLPS B – Budo
The title race and battle to survive relegation battle for the men’s Division 1 Multiple Industries 50-over League still wide open, all sides will hope to have clear skies today.
Only two games left each of the five sides to end the season and while each game counts, none can afford to step off the gas when action resumes today.
Table leaders Wanderers Cricket Club (59 points) are keen to maintain their spot when they play fourth-placed side Charity Trust Fund (39) at the University Oval in Kyambogo.
“Our team has to keep winning by all means till the last day.” Wanderers’ skipper Dennis Musali said. But Charity’s Jonathan Sebanja and teammates have their pride at stake. “We also need a good result and we are not leaving anything at chance for our opponents,” Sebanja said. Wanderers’ title bid will be keenly monitored by second placed side Tornado (54) who play defending champions Patidar Samaj in another much anticipated tie at Lugogo Oval.
“It is not over yet,” Tornado captain Frank Nsubuga said. “We can close the five-point gap. So we still have a chance to win this trophy.” Patidar (45), filling the third position on eight-team log can cut down the nine point gap with their opponents if they secure maximum points, something that pushes Tornado out of the title bid and leaves their place in check.
At the lakeside Oval in Entebbe, Martin Ondeko’s Nile (35) can revive their efforts to finish in the top four slots if they silence bottom side Challengers (19). If Challengers win this game (their last one) and SKLPS (19) squander against Nile next weekend, then they will have survived relegation at the expense of Rounders (21).
