The draws for this year’s edition of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup were meant to be held on November 8. But organisers Fufa, the local football body in Uganda pushed them further by four days.

“The fixtures will be released on 12th November, not 8th as we had earlier set,” Rogers Mulindwa, Fufa publicist and Cecafa media officer, told the media in Kampala on Wednesday.

“We shall communicate the venue in our next press conference. As the local organizing committee in Kampala we have already embarked on a number of issues including accommodation and the rest with our sponsors, the East Africa Breweries.” Mulindwa added.

The tournament is set to take place at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole from November 24 – December 8. Hosts Uganda are the record champions and will look to use the home advantage to pick its 13th crown.

Meanwhile, Somalia will be the earliest country to arrive in Kampala for Cecafa. They touch down at Entebbe Airport on November 8 but will hope they are not the first to return home.

The Ocean Stars are already booked in at the Mandela Hotel, Namboole and will be camped there until November 11. Already other 10 Cecafa countries have confirmed participation in the tournament apart from Djibouti.
