Ugandan export to Kenya Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma is on the verge of making history as the first foreigner to win the Tusker Premier League golden boot.

The former Express FC forward went level on top of the goal scoring charts with Sofapaka FC marks man John Baraza on 17 goals after netting a stunning hat trick against Muhoroni Youth FC in a KPL game last weekend.

With just a game left to crown the 2012 season, Sserunkuma just needs to score against Thika United and prays that Baraza fails to get on the score sheet in his side’s last game.

Their closest chasers are Thika United’s Kepha Aswani who has 12 goals on his name, while Gor forward Rama Salim and his counterpart from Ulinzi Stars Evans Amuoka follow closely behind with 11 strikes each.

Paul Kiongera of KCB lies fourth on the scoring chat with ten goals, one ahead of Mathare United’s Jesse Were and AFC Leopards’ Mike Barasa-who are tied on nine goals.

However, if the duo (Sserunkuma and Baraza) fails to find the back of the net in their respective final matches on Saturday 10 November, they may have to share golden boot accolade.

On the other hand, if Gor Mahia wins the league title, Sserunkuma will join fellow Ugandans Timothy Ayiekho and Abbey Nasur who managed to lift the Kenyan league title with K’ogalo in the 1980s.
