Nemo Stars Club emerged winners of the men’s category at the second edition of the Ndejje Invitational Volleyball Championships on Sunday.

They were down in the first set but quickly recovered to triumph 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19) over KAVC amidst a heavy downpour. “It was not easy so we are happy to win,” Nemo Stars’ skipper George Aporu said.

The 6ft 4inch player believes the victory is a perfect feat ahead of their meet with Nkumba in the third playoff of the National League final tomorrow. “We’ve gained confidence and the spirits are high. We can win the league” Aporu added. Three games are left and both sides are tied on 1-all.

Nemo had beaten KCCA 3-1 while KAVC had eliminated Sport-S 3-0 in the semi-finals. Hosts Ndejje defeated KAVC 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) in the ladies’ club final and finished unbeaten.

In the institutional team games, Ndejje swept clean in both genders. They whitewashed UCU 3-0 and beat Kyambogo 3-1 in the men and ladies’ categories. A total of 12 teams took part in this tournament.
