*Ndejje 3-2 KAVC (Ndejje win series 3-0 to win maiden championship)
Ndejje university volleyball club endured five sets to be crowned championships of the national women’s volleyball finals for first time on their second attempt.
Ndejje white washed KAVC 3-0 as they took game three 3-2 (25-14, 27-25, 25-11, 25-18, 15-9) to win the best of five series.
They imposed themselves on KAVC though the veteran side did not want to leave it without a fight.
Not even an eight-minute power blackout at the indoor would stop the Luwero side from claiming their maiden championship.
Ndejje coach, Johnson Kawenyera had to keep his girl’s heads composed every time KAVC brought the game to them.
It was Shamim Makongoro, a rookie who has had limited time throughout the season that rose to the occasion when Jesca Kaidu limped off with a muscle pull for Ndejje.
KAVC struggled even with Shilla Omuriwe’s return, which did not inspire them to victory as her sight issue forced her into unnecessary errors.
KAVC setter Florence Nannyondo struggled and had limited playing time until the last set but her return could do little to steer the 2008 champions to victory.
KAVC’s Gloria Nantege gave it away as she put it in the net to the fully packed Lugogo into wild cheers
