Uganda’s reigning Handball champions (men), Prisons qualified for the semi finals of the East and Central Handball championships in Nairobi following their impressive 32-30 victory over Democratic of Republic’s Congo’s Black Mamba side at Nyayo Indoor stadium in Nairobi.

An impressive performance from Team captain, Isamat Anthony, Ojok Gilbert and Owori Richard inspired the Ugandan Champions who are set to meet Demorcatic Republic of Congo’s Police in the first semi final on Friday night.

“The boys once again played according to the game plan discussed prior the match and we have triumphed”, said head coach Benard Oyene in an interview with Kawowo sports.

Uganda’s other representatives, Nkumba University who lost their opening fixture to Democratic Republic of Congo’s Heritage Club 56-29, once again faulted as they were eliminated out of the tournament following a 24-31 loss to Kenya’s Nairobi stars in the women’s action.

“I blame my girls’s dismissal performance on inexperience, lets us recollect ourselves for the Uganda National Title”, Nkumba head of delegation and coach, Isa Assimwe remarked after the game. The tournament ends on Sunday.
