Finally, there is some ray of light for Uganda’s Handball fraternity. Uganda settled for third position at the regional handball tourney that concluded on Saturday in Nairobi,Kenya at Nyayo Stadium. Defending champions, Cereals (men) successfully reclaimed the title while D.R.C’s Heritage took the top honours in the ladies’s catergory.

After a dismissal performance from Nkumba university (women), Prisons was left with the mantle to restore Uganda’s parity against the region’s finest. Having won two of their group stage games and losing one, Prisons qualified for the semis only to succumb at the Congo’s opposition,Police 32-18.

In the 3rd place play off, there were smiles at the end of the day as an Ibrahim Kongo inspired performance spurred Prisons to a 34-32 victory over a very phyiscal University Of Nairobi side.
