There is no doubt that Dorcus Inzikuru is arguably the most successful female athlete the country has had.
From winning a 3000m steeplechase gold at the 2005 World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland to a Commonwealth Gold in 2006, you cannot question her status.
But she failed to defend her 21km half marathon title at this year’s MTN Kampala Marathon on Sunday.
The Arua Gazelle finished third after clocking the finish line in a time of 1h 19 mins and 13 seconds.
She was beaten by two other Ugandans in Martha Chemutai and Mildred Chebosis who finished first and second respectively.
Inzikuru attributes the failure to her late start. “I reach Kololo late and started after many had left me,”
“But I still did my best though I should have won.” she added.
Inzikuru pocketed a cash prize of Shs.1m while the first two walked away with four and two millions.
