Tanzania 7-0 Somalia

The Taifa Stars of Tanzania stormed the quarter finals of the Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup 2012 in style after hitting Somalia 7-0 in their last group B game played at KCCA grounds Lugogo. Mrisho Ngassa was the chief tormentor of the Ocean Stars after he netted a record five goals while John Raphael Bocco bagged a brace.

The Simba SC forward got on the score sheet as early as the first minute to send the watching Tanzania fans into rapture.

The Kilimanjaro Stars number 8 then added a second in the 24th minute before John Bocco who was unlucky to miss on the score sheet in the game against Burundi got the third goal in the 27th minute and completed a brace in the 42nd minute.

With just a minute to completing the first half, Ngassa added the fifth and his third of the day to become the first player to bag a hat trick in this year’s competition.

After recess, Somalia tried to resist but not long enough as Ngassa added his fourth and fifth goal in the 73rd and 75th minute respectively.

The win was the biggest for any side in this year’s competition.

Ngassa five goals takes him to the top of the golden boot log while John Bocco follows closely with four. With Burundi winning 1-0 against Sudan, Tanzania finished second in group B and will meet Rwanda in the quarter finals.
