A tough task awaits Uganda in the Cecafa Tusker Cup when they take on 2010 winner Tanzania on Thursday at Namboole Stadium. Denis Guma is one that has been targeted as the weak link in the Cranes team as bookmakers believe he is being exploited at the right back.
Guma’s real task will come against tournament leading scorer (5) Mrisho Ngasha. The Sports Club Victoria University defender has been favored in the right flank ahead natural right full back Nicholas Wadada/
Cranes coach bobby Williamson plans to continue using the central defender. “If you don’t appreciate what Denis Guma brings to the team am sorry, as I said he is a good and strong player andWwadada’s time will come,” Bobby said.
For some time the Scot has insisted that Guma’s best days on the national team are as a right full back. “Guma links up very well with Moses Oloya, maybe Wadada is faster than him but he is not slow.”
Guma has an assist to his name after he setup Geoffrey Kizito off a free in the Cranes Opener against Kenya. “Guma reads the situations and uses his Body well, Wadada still has a lot to learn but he is getting there,” added Bobby. Guma and Wadada were summoned to the Cecafa Tusker Cup as seasoned right full back Simone Masaba takes a rest.
