SC Villa and national U-20 Coach Paul Nkata has been shortlisted as one of the prime candidates to take over the head Coach role at Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Western Stima.

The Kakamega based side parted ways with Coach Henry Omino following what they called abysmal performance in the 2012 season in which they finished 9th on the 16 team log and invited applications from suitable Coaches willing to take the job and sources indicate that Paul Nkata is among those whose application was received.

Speaking to Michezo Afrika a sports website in Kenya, Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita said that the executive will meet this Friday to make a decision on which of the shortlisted Coaches to appoint.

“We received very impressive credentials from top coaches in the region (including Uganda’s U-20 Coach) and we will have a final look at the papers on Friday before any appointments are done”.

Paul Nkata will however have to  fend off competition from former Sony Sugar coach Francis Barasa, Agro Chemicals coach and former assistant of Kenya national team Leonard Saleh and former AFC Leopards coach Jan Koops among others.

It should be noted that Paul Nkata was missing on the SC Villa technical bench as the Jogoos came from two goals down to beat URA FC 3-2 in a league match played at Nakivubo on Tuesday.
