Just days after their understudy side lifted the ICC Africa U-19 cricket tourney here in Kampala, the national senior women’s team will be out to replicate similar performances in Dar es- Salaam.
Led by skipper Barbara Mukankusi, they will be among the six sides including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Kenya and hosts Tanzania that will compete in the ICC-Africa Women’s T20 Tournament in Tanzania from December 16-19.
And the top two teams will qualify for the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup due 2014 in Bangladesh.
Uganda senior women’s team will seek their first global slot when they take part in the toruney. They will open up against hosts Tanzania at the Annadil Burhani grounds.
The Annadil Burhani ground was first used for international cricket in 1998 when Tanzania played the MCC here during an MCC tour of East and Central Africa.
It was later used in 2004 for the African Women’s Championship and in 2006 for the ICC World Cricket League Africa Region Division Two tournament.
