Unlike in Uganda or elsewhere in the world, it’s hard for a ruler to give up power for the rest and responsibly don’t dedicate who to follow their footsteps. Tanzania Football Federation incumbent president, Leodegar Tenga, has admitted that his eight years in office is enough to give room for other potential Tanzanians to fill his post.
The clarification came in as a wake of unstopping speculations that Tenga would bounce back for a 3rd term. “No thanks! I do not intend to run for re-election, contrary to frequent sensational and manufactured reports. Several members to the general meeting have also been asking whether I’ will stand or not, they should be rest assured that I will not stand…. not at all.
Tenga was reported by a Tanzanian daily newspaper. “I have served TFF (Tanzania Football Federation) for most of my eight years life as a committed president and worked hard to achieve my objectives, which were clear from the beginning. Our agenda was to build an institution and set up a clear system of operation and ensure passage of a new constitution which I believe, was a key to transformation”.
“I think I’ve done my part and helped the federation to set up a clear system and structure of organization. I promised to leave a legacy and hopefully to establish independence organs that can make decisions without the interference of the executives”. He added.
Tenga upon reacting to the rumors asked the coming leaders to always focus on football development of the executive. Revealed a Tanzanian publication, Dailynews.co.tz
