After signing Uganda Cranes Cecafa skipper Hassan Wasswa, Kampala City Council FC have again raided the January transfer window and acquired the services of SC Villa striker Herman Wasswa.
According to reports, the former Masaka LC star has penned a two year deal with the Lugogo based side for an undisclosed fee though rumour indicates a fee of Uganda shillings Seven million (Ugx 7m). Wasswa is set to fill the void left by Cranes forward Brian Umony who joined Tanzanian outfit Azam FC in this window.
He joins the club at a time when he is enjoying a rich vein of form as he leads the goal scoring charts in the Fufa Super League (FSL) jointly with new team mate Tony Odur with 11 goals from the 15 first round games in which he started 14.
Wasswa has spent a season and half at Villa Park scoring 19 goals for the club. He joined SC Villa at the beginning of the 2011/12 season from Masaka LC FC after scoring 12 goals in 14 second round games to save the club from relegation in the 2010/11 season.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how the Muwema led SC Villa will react to this move since the striker had signed a three year deal with 16 league champions an implication that he still had a year and half left on the contract.
However, following the FSL-USL wrangles that divided the club into two factions, the Muwema faction issued contract termination letters to all players that quit the side but none of the players fulfilled the conditions within the letters.
In his last game for SC Villa, the striker netted his 11th goal of the season against Kiira Young FC on Tuesday afternoon at Nakivubo stadium.
