2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier
Uganda’s group-mate, Liberia, is yet to find a head coach. Following the dismissal of Coach Kaetu Smith and his assistant last year after poor results, the Liberia Football FA president, Musa Bility, assigned legendary George Weah to head a committee to find replacements before they meet the Uganda cranes in March this year.
In a recent development from Liberia, George Weah appointed a ten-man committee to vet a new technical staff for the national team. The committee, that is full of Former footballers and Cecelia Taylor being the only lady on it, is also to assist Liberia Football Association (LFA) in the technical matters aimed at bringing back glory and success that Liberia had.
The list composed of James Debbah, Waka Herron, Joe Nagbe, John Brownell, Janjay Jacobs, Fredrick Cole and Wreh Brapoh. Others are Frank Jericho Nagbe and Prince Toe as its coordinator.
Liberia is last in Group J of World Cup qualifiers with 1 point. Senegal leads the group with 4 points; Uganda in second (2 points) and Angola are in 3rd with 2 points. Each team has so far played 2 games. Liberia hosts Uganda in Monrovia while Angola will play away to Senegal next month.
Meanwhile in the same route, Kenya is set to announce head coach. While giving his speech at the Charity Cup final game where Sofapaka beat Gor Mahia 6-5 on penalties at Kasalani Stadium in Nairobi, Federation of Kenya Football FA Chairman Sam Nyamweya, announced that a new coach to take charge of the Kenya National soccer team, Harambee Stars, will be available in two weeks time.
The then to be head coach will not only replace Henri Michel who parted ways with Harambee Stars duties last year, but will also prepare a team ahead of a must win World Cup qualifier game against the Super Eagle’s of Nigeria next month.
