Uganda Universities started off in style in Dare salaam in the East African games. Though on day one the hosts failed to draw the fixtures Uganda Contingent took over and drew them and there is poor organization down there in Tanzania.
Though many games are yet to be played Kampala University has already registered four gold in Winnie Nanyondo and Jimmy Adal. In 1500m, Winnie Nanyondo won gold, Ajok Dorcus of Ndejje came second and Prosy Nalugga of UCU came third In 800m, and 5000 meters Winnie Nanyondo won gold and Jimmy Adal brought gold to KU. Ndejje University has two gold medals and 5 bronzes. In karatte Kampala University do have 1gold medal and three bronze medals.
In 10,000 meters Annet Chebet of Ndejje won gold Lea Malot of Moi University registered Silver and Twikirize of Ndejje went for bronze.
Handball Kampala University 49-27 State University of Zanzibar, Netball Men Kampala University 31-6 Engerton of Kenya, Netball Ladies Kampala University 59-09 Laikpe Kenya.
In the Rugby fraternity Uganda Martyrs University has beaten Kenyantta University by 10-3
And right now Uganda has 6 gold medals which is a positive for our Universities
