CS Don Bosco (DR Congo) 0-1 Supersport United (South Africa)
Godfrey Walusimbi’s new club made a possible worst start to the 2013 CAF Confederations Cup campaign after losing 1-0 to South Africa’s Supersport United in Lumbumbashi on Sunday.
Thabiso Nkoana scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute to ensure some breathing ground for the Nedbank Cup winners earned a vital away win with the second leg still to come.
Sameegh Doutie set up the young striker for a superb finish to stun the home crowd in Lubumbashi. Nkoana had come on as a substitute just before half-time for the injured Prince Nxumalo. SuperSport hosts the second leg at the start of next month in Atteridgeville, looking to progress to the next round of the annual competition.
Gavin Hunt’s team dominated play against their hosts, who were making their debut in continental club competition.
Walusimbi took part in the game and his side will be looking to overturn the defeat when they travel to South Africa but it appears an uphill task.
