The Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) has denied allegations by the Ugandan soccer governing body FUFA that Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson never applied for the vacant Harambee Stars job insisting the Scot expressed his interest in the job.
Although Williamson is among the four coaches shortlisted for the job, FUFA had earlier released a press statement denying Bobby’s links to Kenya. The same statements were also echoed by the Scot when contacted by Kawowo Sports earlier.
According to Kenya sports website futaa.com, FKF Media officer John Kariuki insisted that the Scottish tendered his application.
“Williamson did not apply through FUFA, so FUFA cannot react on his behalf. He applied for the job that’s why we shortlisted him. That’s the stand of the federation and we have not received any official communication from FUFA”, Kariuki confirmed.
The FKF has released a press statement on Tuesday 19th February showing Williamson on the shortlist of four coaches of which one will be announced on Wednesday.
Others shortlisted for job are; Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredokevic [Rwanda Coach], former France Coach Raymond Domenech and former Burundi Coach Adel Amrouche.
