In-form lady golfer Kathy Kabenge, started 2013 with a bang by claiming the prestigious Lady Captain’s Prize at the par 72 Kitante golf course at the Uganda Golf Club on Saturday with a score of 66 nett.
The handicap nine golfer swept a strong field of 205 golfers a record entry for this annual tournament that is hosted by the Lady captain at the Uganda Golf Club. “I would like to pay tribute to all those that have helped me reach this far in my game of golf,” Kabenge, said while receiving her trophy and other prizes. “They have contributed to my growth in the game for the last four years.”
Left hander Gloria Mbaguta, was group A winner with a score of 70 nett on a day that so most golfers return with good scores on a dry course. The one day event was sponsored by Nation Media group together with Avane, Aqua Sipi,Nyumbani Decor, 7-up and M-Cash.
Anne Abeja Muhwezi was winner group B with 70 nett while group C was won by Annet Kiconco with a score of 71 on count back. Ladies with the best scores in the weekly Lady’s Nite Golf with have their scores tallied for them to win a fully paid trip to take part in the Nation Classic in Nairobi in November.
Emmanuel Wamala, was men’s group A winner with 71 nett while Herbert Rwambibazi was group B winner with 72 on count back. Kenyan Karanja Karubiu Junior was group C winner with a score of 74 nett.
Jackie Kwesiga was the guest winner with 73 nett while Dennis Anguyo, was the winner in the professionals with a score of 69 gross beating 13 professionals.
