Whether with the ball or bat, Roger Mukasa has proved sensational in Tornado B’s quest for this year’s National T20 League title.
Much evidently showed over the weekend, the all-rounder put up a man-of-match performance against reigning champions Tornado despite falling by two wickets at the university oval in Kyambogo on Sunday afternoon.
His knock of 40-ball 52 (eight fours) had put Tornado B at 68-2 before the mid-order collapesd for Tornado B to set just a 107-9 after their innings.
As if that was not enough, Mukasa striked again as his off-spin tortured and pounced on Tornado’s batsmen with figures of 4-12.
“He is enjoying his game here at the club,” teammate Nicholas Kebba, who had opened the batting with him, said. “He has gelled in well.”
Mukasa joined Tornado B a few weeks ago, following elder brother Lawrence Ssematimba and Charles Waiswa from Patidar Samaj.
“Mukasa is facing no pressure here. He is doing his job with comfort.” his captain Jeremy Kibuukamusoke added of the right-hand batsman.
Mukasa had earlier proved lethal in the morning with an impetuous performance in the team’s 60-run win over Mwiri at Lugogo.
The 25-year-old’s magic on the willows got him a ton of 112 runs that included 19 fours. That was the only second century of this season, with first having been Kebba’s 100 against KICC a week ago.
“I am doing well,” a relaxed Mukasa said. “I want to keep scoring the runs so that i keep this right mental state for Bermuda.”
Uganda will take part in the World Cricket League Division III tournament in April-May.
And Mukasa finished the weekend with a total of 164 runs from the two innings. He moves to the top of the batting chart with 320 runs littered with 52 fours and three sixes.
It is such impressive performances that would make one rush to the nearest cricket oval for some eye-catching action.
