Ronald Mugula, the reigning world Super welterweight kick boxing champion has vowed to knock down his Romanian opponent, Mészáros János Elek by the Round three in a full contact fight scheduled for Friday, April 5 at Kyadondo Rugby grounds, Kampala, Uganda.
“I respect Janos, but i have worked very hard and i expect to knock him down by the third round. Uganda will win at the end of the day”, vowed Mugula, who was flanked by his trainner and coach, Thilo Schneider at the mandatory pre-match weigh-in exercise held at Mount Zion Hotel in Kampala. Mugula weighed in 66.5kg while Janos returned 67kg.
Janos, who struggled to address the press because he could speak less English promised a great fight. “I am ever training and always ready, i have not traveled all the way to Uganda for a joke, i will look for a knock out”, he promised.
Mugula’ s record stands at 59 fights 43 wins, 10 losses 6 draws, including 23 KOs while the Romanian’s Janos has played 65 fights, 45 wins, 8 losses, 12 draws with 10 KOs.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Public Relations Officer, Ibin Ssenkumbi, who was also present at the weigh in exercise assured all the fans of maximum security at the bout venue. “There is already a 24 hour surveillance at the venue, there will be strict access control and patrolls will be conducted throughout the fight.”, he said.
World Kick Boxing Executive Director, Fritz Exenberger will supervise this fight which will also be aired live on Uganda’s national broadcaster, U.B.C T.V, the prime sponsors for the fight.
