This year’s National Twenty20 League gets to its business end on Sunday with two semifinals at Kyambogo and Lugogo Ovals and a final at the latter in the afternoon.
Four sides are left in the contest and two mouth-watering games are line up in the morning before it gets to the pinnacle.
Defending champions Tornado are unbeaten but have a daunting task in beating Tornado B to reach a second straight final.
Both sides, formed by George William Kibuukamusoke, have been the two most impressive sides and despite carrying similar background, the ambitions will be way too different on the oval.
The winner faces the victor of the second semifinal clash between Wanderers and Challengers.
“Both teams must be worry of each other,” Tornado B wicket-keeper Nicholas Kebba told Kawowo Sports.
The two sides topped Group A in the preliminaries with the titleholders defeating Tornado B by two wickets a month ago in the table decider.
“We are coming back strong and this is the best time to revenge that loss.” Kebba, who scored the tournament’s first century – an unbeaten 100 against KICC, added.
But calm and agile Tornado captain Frank Nsubuga is confident they are closer to returning the trophy to their cabinet.
“They will come strong at us but we’ll soak the pressure,” he said. “If I win the toss, we’ll bat first and then defend the score,”
“Our bowlers need to pick Roger’s (Mukasa) wicket early to brighten our chances.” he added.
Mukasa, Nsubuga’s younger brother, scored 41 off 36 before picking 1/6 and taking three catches enroute a 44-run obliterating of last year’s runners-up Charity Trust Fund last weekend. Mukasa leads the batting chart with 427 runs comprising a plethora of 66 fours and four sixes.
Nsubuga’s 35-ball 52 knock and figures of 2/14, meanwhile helped his side defeat Kutchi Tigers by 82 runs to progress to this stage.
