Uganda’s Musa Kimuli, a student at Eastern Kentucky University posted an impressive timing of 15:14:39 by finishing third in the Men’s 1500 Metres at the Bellarmine Invitational Meet held at Owsley Frazier Stadium.
Kimuli, born to Mr Kimuli and Norah Nakatudde, he left Uganda for USA in 2010 to pursue further education before he became a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Track and Field team tagged the Colonels.
“I have always had a strong will i will succeed. That is the reason why i put my best effort in training sessions”, the soft spoken Kimuli tells Kawowo Sports in a telephone interview.
Since relocating to the United States, he has participated in various races including OVC Cross Country championships, Ohio Valley Conference, Sea Ray Relays, Raleigh Relays, the NCAA Pre-Nationals Race and the Cardinal Twilight Classic Event where he posted a personal best timing of 14:49:40 over 5,000 metres.
There are many other Ugandans who are doing quite well in the United States that include, Agatha Baliddawa (Volleyball and Basketball), Stevens Larubi Opata (Athletics), Emmanuel Tugumisirize (Athletics), Eric Kamya, Benda Edison (football), Robbins Nyombi (Rugby) and a host of many others.
The track and field Colonels return to action next weekend at the Tennessee Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville.
