Uganda’s top player Michael Kawooya maintained his good form as he claimed the Rwanda International Squash championship at the Cercle Sportif de Kigali recently with a 15-1, 12-15, 15-7 victory over Paul Kadoma recently.
Enroute to meeting his compatriot in the finals USPA’s squash player of the year 2012 humbled had a walk over Kampala club’s squash captain Simal Omor while Kadoma beat Rwanda’s Richard Dereke 15-6, 15-12 to book an all Ugandan final.
Uganda Squash Rackets Association under the leadership of JB Tamwesigire recently said the country’s junior players will be participating in several tournaments in the region as they build bonds with their regional associations, but at the same time develop a strong youth team for international events like the Commonwealth, All Africa games and the Olympics.
Uganda’s team is preparing to take part in the Saint Lucia Squash Open championship due in Barbados in June.
