Uganda’s most ranked woodballer, Lillian Zawedde settled for third place to scoop bronze at the 6th Hong Kong International Open Woodball championship held at the Wu Kai Sha Village Ma on Shan over the weekend.
“I am very happy for this bronze on the international scene. I will use my experience and expertise in the game to teach many up coming woodball players in the country”, a jovial Zawedde told scribes immediately after her arrival at Entebbe International Airport.
Zawedde, the reigning Uganda Sports Writers and Uganda Woodball Federation player of the year, 2013 kept her cool as they battled the world’s elite woodball players to claim third position in the singles category.
Vicent Kisenyi, the African woodball President was delighted of the feat and trend set by Zawedde. ” She is a true role model on the African Continent, we shall continue to support her in the international events to improve her ratings”, Kisenyi told Kawowo sports.
The other events on the international woodball calendar include: The sixth Thailand Open International Woodball Championship and 3rd Air Sea land games (May 21– 26, in Bangkok), China-Sanya international open (5-9 June), 5th Indonesian Open (12th-14th July), Mongolian International Open (25th-27th July), 13th Singapore International (17th-18th August) and the 3rd
Uganda Open International Woodball Championship (October 10 – 14), that will held at Kisubi Beach, Entebbe.
