As this month unfolds into new sporting competitions, May 17 has been marked to kick-start the Junior Swimming Championship that will take place at Agha Khan High School, Nairobi.
This event will last up to May 19th and several East African countries like Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda are expected to participate in this championship.
Uganda will be sending a team of 40 swimmers who will be flagged off by National Council of Sports Chairman Bosco Onyik and Minister of State of Sports Charles Bakabulindi.
Intensive training has been going on for the under 11 junior team at Kololo ,Agha Khan Nursery School and some of the coaches who are guiding these young stars include; Muzafaru Muwanguzi as the Head Coach,Tony Kasujja as the assistant coach and Juma Semakula.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Tendo Mukalazi, a five medal winner in the previous championship held in Mombasa promised to make Uganda proud saying, he was ready for the challenge in Nairobi despite being left out for the recently concluded CANA Swimming Championships in Zambia.
Uganda will host the next CANA Swimming Championships slated for next year and the Uganda Swimming Federation are expected to step up their national team selection.
