The 14-1 score line which Ebenezer Tanda recorded over KB Lions during a Division one fixture has been nullified by the independent investigative committee set by the Wakiso District Competitions Committee.
The investigative committee headed by Harunah Kyobe discovered that KB Lions used a batch of several unlicensed players following a players’ strike over unpaid allowances.
In a desperate move to save the Wakiso defending champions from the jaws of relegation, only 4 legitimate players; Mbaziira Baker, Kizito Delimo, Mubiru Steven and Seruyidde Moses featured for the team and the rest were mafia players.
The committee thus ruled that KB Lions forfeits the match by 3 points and 3 goals to Ebenezar Tanda basing on article 18 sections 8 & 9 from the competition rules, the committee that says “Only FUFA registered players shall be eligible to play in FUFA competitions and a club that fields an ineligible player in a FUFA competition match shall lose the match by forfeiture to the opposing team.”
The committee based on the report of Steven Bajjabayira, who was the day’s referee of the ill fated match. “KB Lions reported to the field of play first but had unregistered players. Tanda were several minutes late and their captain failed to realize that KB Lions had fake licenses during the mandatory players’ inspection exercise”, reads part of the report.
The ruling means Kira Football Club are the 2012-2013 Wakiso Division One league champions having accumulated 4more goals than Ebenezar Tanda. KB Lions have been fined 100,000/= as punishment for using unregistered players.
However the committee says that parties unsatisfied with the ruling deserve the right to appeal to higher authorities. An official closing ceremony has been set for May 17th at Uganda Clays play ground in kajjansi were Kira will be given the champions’ trophy, medals,4 millions and other cash prizes for the top 4 teams. The top scorer will get a brand new playing soccer boots.
The Zonal championships will take place in Mpigi at a date to be communicated. Entebbe based Kataka F.C, Kitende and Migadde are the teams relegated to play in the second division next season.
