Rezlife Saints have picked up their eighth victory of the ongoing 2026 National Basketball League.
Rezlife Saints secured a well-deserved 62-48 victory against City Oilers in the encounter played at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
The Saints have suffered only two defeats in the campaign, and they have come against Sommet and Namuwongo Blazers. On the other hand, the City Oilers have picked up their maiden loss of the campaign.
In the opening quarter, Fayed Baale got the game underway with a jumpshot beyond the arc but Micheal Otieno responded with a fadeaway jumper. It was a generally slow start as the Oilers ended the period with a four-point (14-10) lead.
Going into the second quarter, the Saints improved their defence and kept in close contact with the City Oilers. Edrine Ekau’s successful trip to the line levelled the game 30-30 going into the long break.
Coming from the long break, both sides were on the front foot and raced to a 16-16 score as they kept the game levelled at 46-46 going into the final period.
In the final quarter, it was one-way traffic as the Saints scored unanswered 16 points, while the Oilers struggled to capitalise on their offensive opportunities. Maluel Dier saw his jump shot drop at the end of the period, but at that point, it meant nothing to the game.
Edrine Ekau dropped a game-high 25 points, and Hon Kwany contributed 11 points to lead the way for the Saints, while on the other hand, Malual Dier scored 10 points for the Oilers.
Michael Otieno (10 points and 11 rebounds) and Joel Kayiira (10 points and 10 rebounds) were the other players who managed to record double-doubles for the Saints and Oilers, respectively.
