Jinja professional Ian Odokonyero has won the pro title at the Eskom Open after shooting 145 gross to claim his first major event on the men’s professional golf circuit at the Jinja golf club this morning.
Opio Onito, finished second after averaging with a score of 147 gross while Kampala’s Herman Mutawe was third with a similar score in a competition that attracted 12 professional golfers from around the country.
Deo Akope was fourth with a score of 148 while Fred Wanzala was fifth. Last year’s winner Dickson Lagoro, was 12 with 152 gross. This is the sixth edition of the Eskom Open with the professionals battling for 5 million Uganda shillings over two days the amateur will conclude their round of action tomorrow.
Eskom Uganda is celebrating ten years and have a series of activities that have seen the company sponsoring a football tournament that was held last weekend in Jinja. They have sunk a total of 50 million in this year’s edition.
