In a bid to spot talent and groom talents from the grass roots, Uganda Cycling Association (UCA) is organizing a 68 kilometre road race for the racing teenagers below the age of 17 on Sunday..
“We are targeting the talented youngsters, who we shall follow and nurture as time moves by in order to ensure continuity of the sport in the country,” Esther Cythnia, the association publicist reveals. Different clubs representatives and individuals are expected to participate in the 5th Uganda Cycling event of the year on the calendar.
The event shall start at 9AM from Shell Lugogo Bypass round about and back to the same place. Some of the youngsters expected to feature include Sebuuma Joseph, Senabulya Joshua and Ssebuufu Henry.
Meanwhile, a team of riders from the US, Europe and Africa, led by Jens Van Roeyare are planning a bike trail that will see them cycle for about two weeks through rural regions of Western Kenya and Eastern Uganda.
