Buganda Kingdom’s newly wedded Prince, David Walugembe Wasajja has lauded all personalities who strive to identify and nurture  talents of the young budding sportsmen in Uganda.

“I love sports and particularly football, i am happy with all those who develop young talents to make them future sporting stars in the country,” Prince Wasajja said in a brief speech before he handed over trophies and other prizes to the various winners of the 2nd edition of the Wakiso District Inter County and town Councils Sports Tourney.

The week long residential tournament, hosted at Nsangi Sub County, was won by Sissa Sub County (football) and Nsangi Sub County (Netball).

In the final of the football game played, Strikes from Neymar Kisakye, Charles Napia and Abubaker Kizito silence the Nsangi home supporters who were disappointed after their team had taken a 6th minute lead with a Meddie Kizito left footed goal.

In the Netball affair, Alithumu Ali was on the form of her life as she single handedly sank in 19 goals that helped team Nsangi successfully defend her crown.She won the ladie’s Most Valuable player accolade.

Wakiso District Chairperson Abed Bwanika thanked the youth for the cooperation and promised to organise better championships in the years to come. “75 % of Uganda’s population are the youth. Many are unemployed and sports is one avenue of fighting unemployment”, Said Bwanika, who also donated a full set of playing uniforms to the winning team.

Sissa’s Moses Sserubiri was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable player, Steven Tabu (best goalie), Isaac Senara (best defender) while Nsangi’s Peter Atugonza was top scorer on 6 goals.
