Kobil Uganda has sunk a total of 80 million into this Saturday’s Captain’s Putter tournament due this Saturday at the par 71 Entebbe golf club.
This is the second year running for the petroleum company to sponsor this event that attracts amateur golfers from around the country to play over a challenging course including foreign players from Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi.
“We want to re-affirm our involvement and support for sports development in Uganda as we continue to support Golf and other sports activities in the communities in which we operate because we believe that an Nation is a healthy nation,” Werner Griessel, the general manager, of Kobil Uganda Limited said at the launch this afternoon at their head office in Nalukolongo. “We urge all golfers to come and enjoy a good round of Golf at Entebbe Golf Club and stand a chance to win a number of prizes.”
The mode of play is Tombstone commonly known as Flags or Flag Competition, golfers begin their rounds with an allotment of strokes and they play until their strokes run out. The Golfer who makes it farthest around the course is the winner according to the Entebbe Golf Club captain Oscar Semawere.
