Uganda Vs Angola – Mandela National Stadium, Namboole

Former Cranes skipper Ibrahim Ssekagya is delighted with the mood in the Cranes camp as the team prepares to face Angola in a crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier on Saturday at Mandela national stadium, Namboole.

The Red Bull Salzburg defender joined the rest of the team in Thursday’s training session as a way of showing solidarity and support to the side he served for more than a decade.

“The boys are in buoyant mood”, he told Kawowo Sports in an exclusive interview.

“The morale in camp and the enthusiasm exhibited in training shows how ready they are for the game. I am optimistic they will get the desired three points”, he added.

As a Cranes player, Ssekagya faced the Antelopes of Angola a number of times and warns the boys not to under estimate despite enjoying success over them on their last two visits.

“They are a changed side and will pose a great challenge. They should not be under estimated gauging by previous victories”.

The former KCC FC and Arsenal De Saland player was on the losing side in his game against Angola after the Cranes suffered a 2-0 defeat in the 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier.

Ssekagya’s last game in the national team jersey was the heartbreaking barren draw against Kenya’s Harambee Stars on October 8, 2011.
