KIU Rangers Vs Gladiators 6:30pm
City Oilers Vs UCU Canons 8:30pm

City Oilers are widely considered to be the top team in the National Basket League this season and have lived up to that billing so far, winning four of five games for a team that just earned promotion. The Oilers haven’t had much trouble with their last four opponents, mainly due to the quality and size of their roster as well as sharing of the scoring responsibility.

The Canons meanwhile have won all their five relying on the stellar play of Syrus Kiviri, the only UCU starter who has played in all the games and averaging 16 points, as well as the big men – Desmond Owili and Ivan Lumanyika’s contributions on both ends. “We are excited about tomorrow (today) and we will live up to the challenge” UCU’s coach, Nicholas Natuhereza said in a press conference.

Canons (5-0) are averaging 65.2 points and conceding 49.8, Oilers (4-1) are averaging 78.2 conceding 51.6. The two sides more than ever expected to break the dominance of Power and Warriors over the past five years because of their rosters that are not far apart in terms size and quality. The Canons have been at the last five semi-finals but not made an appearance at the finals. “Our target has always been trying to win (the league) every season and it is what we are trying to do this year” Natuhereza said.

Meanwhile KIU Rangers will be going for a fourth consecutive win in the league against Gladiators in the 6:30 tip-off. Rangers (3-2) have not lost a game since losing to Leopards and Lady Canons in the opening two games of the season. The university side will look to improve their record when they play Gladiators (2-4) a side they beat last month in the first match-up.
