World  woodball giants, Hongkong is among the four foreign countries that have already confirmed participation ahead of the the 3rd edition of the Uganda International Woodball Open Championships due October this at Kisubi Beach, Entebbe.
The other foreign countries that have confirmed include world power houses , Chinese Taipei, China and neighbours Kenya.
The Uganda Woodball Federation has invited 34 countries- 20 from Asia, 7 European,1 from America and 6 African countries for the two-day prized Uganda international Open Championships.
Four clubs from Uganda namely Ndejje University, Botladz, Stroke and Ndejje Club have also confirmed their entries in the event .

Invited countries from Africa include Gabon, Congo, Malawi, Sierra Leon and South Africa, Europe – Bulgarian Dane-mark, Estonian, Hungary, Buryatia and Sweden 

The Uganda Open is an International Woodball Federation (IWbF) recognized annual ranking World Tour event on the international calendar.Uganda’s pair of Namuddu Sophia and Zawedde Lillian won Uganda ‘s only Gold in the Ladies Double to salvage Uganda ‘s pride at the 1st Uganda International Open woodball Championships in 2010 at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel.

Uganda won a total of three medals which included  men’s double from Baligeya and Namukoye who picked a bronze and Ndejje university men’s team which won the team event’s bronze medal respectively.

Sophie Namuddu pairing with Zawedde scored 111 strokes to grab gold to relegate to second position a strong opposition of the dominance of Chinese Taipei’s Lin Ting/Wu chi Han who registered 113 strokes and Peng Yi Chi/Tsai Chi Ya 117 strokes.

Baligeya Said/Moses Namukoye stroked 114 to take home a bronze while winners Hong Kong’s Lam chiho/Li chi Tak hit 101 and Hong Kong ‘s Ngai Chun/Wan Sheung Yu finished 3rd with 110 strokes.Ndejje university also grabbed the podium finish in bronze position in the men’s team event bagging 741 strokes behind winners Chinese Taipei 647 and second Hong Kong 659 strokes.
Ugandan teams meanwhile dominated the 2nd Uganda international which attracted four  countries that included Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
Zawedde spurred Ndejje University to lift the overall team champions trophy and gold after her team collecting 1018 total strokes. MUBS took silver with 1208 strokes while new comers Nakaseke Teachers College went home with team bronze after bagging 1285 strokes at the two-day event.
