Golfers will be swinging for glory this Saturday at the par 71 Entebbe Golf Club in the seventh edition of the Bro Group Corporate golf tournament.

The annual sponsors announced a 80 million sponsorship package at their head offices on Jinja road this morning that will cater for the one day tournament that is expected to attract close to 200 amateur golfers from all over the country including 25 professional players who will be battling for 5 million.

“As new talents are nurtured through this tournament and experienced ones made stronger, Bro Group would want to assure all golf enthusiasts that we shall continue to seek and explore  new ways of supporting golf and producing even better golfers through our sponsorship,” Ronald Kanyerezi, the group general manager said at the launch. “Also this year, we shall consider a special prize where we shall sponsor one or two golfers for a full year’s membership at the club. This will be an amateur golfer that needs such sponsorship to perfect his or her game.”

According to the Uganda Professional Golfers Association chairman Deo Akope, they are expecting professionals from Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe and Rwanda.

The mode of play will be Stableford Full Handicap. Rwanda’s Jean Baptiste Hakizimana, is the professionals defending champion while Godfrey Nkambwe, is last year’s winner in the amateurs.
