Former Sports Club Victoria University Head Coach Ivan Zoric has expressed his desire to take over the top job at Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Gor Mahia.
The job fell vacant after club management sacked Croatian Zdravko Logarusic a few weeks ago for unclear reasons leaving assistant Bobby Ogolla as the interim coach but the management wants to find an able replacement for Logarusic.
“Gor Mahia is a big club with excellent fans”, Zoric told Kawowo Sports in an interview from his base in Serbia.
“It’s a club where finishing second is un acceptable and would like to take up the challenge of winning the KPL title for the club”.
On whether the Serb has made any contact with the club officials, he revealed there is no formal talks between him and the club but has made it clear he wants to take over.
“I have some unofficial talk with the club but nothing concrete”.
Zoric further revealed to Kawowo Sports that he has offers in Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain but insists money is not just the only motivation to him
“I have some offer from Bahrain, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia but if an opportunity arose at Gor, I will consider it first. Money (in the Arab nations) cannot be a major motive if i don t have sporting motive to achieve something. I just can t work with pleasure without that”, he added
Zoric left Uganda in January after mutually agreeing to part ways with the University club which he guided to Uganda topflight division.
The Serb is credited with unearthing talents such as current Cranes central defender Savio Kabugo and its also under his reign that SCVU attracted big name players like Cranes fullback Denis Guma, ex-Cranes left back Nestroy Kizito and former URA FC skipper Manko Kawesa.
