There where debut wins for Davis Kato and in-form Brenda Ngabo, as they both hoisted the seventh edition of the prestigious Bro Group Golf Corporate tournament on Saturday at the par 71 Entebbe golf course.
Kato, a student at Nkumba University, who is a member of the oldest club in the country Entebbe, combined skill and resilience as he claimed his first major event on the local golf calendar when he returned with a perfect score of 39 stableford points to be a strong entry of 177 golfers to claim the overall winners trophy in the men’s section.
Ngabo, also a student at Ndejje University, who has been in blistering form was the ladies overall winner with similar score line is using this streak as preparations for the Dasani Golf series that will be held this weekend at the same club with the grand finale being held at the Uganda Golf Club next month.
Kato had to stave a challenge from in-form Entebbe Golf club member Willy Deus Kitata and Robins Muheirwe, who tied for the same points, but the overall winner won on count back to claim the overall prize.
Deo Akope was the professional men’s winner leveling the the course with 71 gross and beating last year’s winner Vincent Byamukama, who finished with 73 gross.
Bro Group sunk 80 million shillings into this year’s edition.
