The incumbent mayor of Entebbe municipality, Hon. Vicent Paul Kayanja is confirmed to be part of the over 150 expected athletes of this weekend’s Save the Planet marathon set in Entebbe.

Proscovier Vikman, one of the race’s organizers publicized the developments that “The Mayor of Entebbe Vincent de Paul Kayanja will be among the top guest who will grace the marathon”. The national Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon Daudi Migereko is the chief guest of honor of the race that will begin at exactly 6:30AM at Mayor’s Garden and end at the Works Ground in Entebbe town.

This 3rd edition marathon will see participants paying Ush 15,000 as registration, Ush 18,000 for a t-shirt and Ush 25,000 for a polo shirt at Barn Stake House Kololo, Gately Inn Entebbe, Flight Motel Entebbe plus all Kobil Petrol stations in Entebbe and Kampala.

According to the organizers, the race is aimed at raising awareness for environmental protection and conservation and position Entebbe as a Green City and athletes will compete in 10 and 5 kilometers of running and walking categories respectively.

All Entebbe based schools are absolutely free to participate and they will have to exhibit their respective school projects under environmental innovations. Children are also catered for in the kids corner where by all ages will participate in the Green challenge organized by Uganda Little Hands.

Kobil Uganda, Metro FM, Philips, Fresh Dairy, Daima, Joadah consult and Afrolinks International companies have dyed-in-the-wool to lend a hand in the smooth flow of the race. Other companies that have also confirmed to support this planet redeemer marathon include; Protea hotels, Taibah International schools, Civicon and CSIBCT. Presentable awards await the better performers.
