US based professional squash player Ibrahim Nyanzi is on a mission to win Uganda its first gold medal in squash at the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland next year and also to dress up Team Uganda.
“I am on a mission to win a gold medal for Uganda at the Commonwealth games and hopefully I will do if am selected to be part of Team Uganda,” Nyanzi said in an e-mail. “I also intend to dress up team Uganda if am given the chance also to do so. I have a clothes designing company and at the moment I have started dressing Ugandans here in USA.”
Nyanzi is ranked 288 on the Professional Squash Association World Tour, he is based in Baltimore, USA where he plays on the PSA World tour and also works.
Uganda Squash Rackets Association, has a pool of Uganda squash players that include local top seed Michael Kawooya, seed two Ian Kajubu, seed three Brian Okumu and seed four Paul Kadoma, who could form a strong side going into next year’s games.
“I am still negogiation with Uganda Olympic Committee on dressing up team Uganda together with the sports minister at the moment I cannot give details on how much it will cost me,” Nyanzi said. “At a more appropriate time I will reveal how much we have agreed on.”
