Kenyan international midfielder Humphrey Mieno is reportedly being tracked by the Scottish Premier League reigning champions Celtic.

The development revealed by Supersport.com comes just weeks after another Kenyan Victor Wanyama left Celtic after two years for English Premier League side Southampton for a record £12.5 million deal.

A source privy to the ongoing talks intimates that Scottish side had been impressed with Mieno and had been tracking him for a while.

“Yes it is true that Celtic have been asking preliminary questions on Mieno after they were impressed with him. The talks are ongoing and hopefully something will be announced very soon as they seek to know more about the player from Kenya,” he told supersport.com.

Mieno is regarded one of the best attacking midfielders in the country and Cecafa region and has been previously linked to several moves abroad and in 2010 came close to joining Club Africain of Tunisia.

He was among the star players at the 2012 Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup where Kenya finished runners up after losing 2-1 to Uganda Cranes in the finals.
