Robert Musana easily scooped Entebbe region Nile special open pool championship tourney after beating Abbex Ssemuzibu 4-0 in the finals at Red Roosters club in Entebbe over the weekend. The finalists qualified to meet 120 regional winners in a grand finale to be held in MTN arena late next month.
The triumphant winner of the day who beat Moses Nuwagaba in three straight in the semifinal, did not only surprise many with his confidence on the table and rapid finishing styles since early stages, but the victory also shocked himself after spending a long time without playing competitive games. “Indeed am surprised about this win because I had spent three years minus playing competitive games like this.” a happy Musana told Kawowo Sports shortly after PAU (Pool Association of Uganda)’s publicity secretary, Michael Mawanda had decorated him with a medal, Ush 100,000 and a certificate.
The runner-up Abbex Ssemuzibu who also got Ush 50,000 and a certificate, acknowledged the victory and promise to represent the region well.
32 players registered to vie in this open tournament on the night and 4 were ladies but were early enough shown exits doors by their counterparts. John Tubaalo beat Eric Muwanda 4-1 in Mubende while Joseph Mutawe thumped Vincent Kimera in Masaka district’s finals with the same scores.
Action resumes on next month at Pool nest in Kireka. 120 finalist winners of the 60 centers from all over the pearl of Africa will meet Uganda’s eight top seeds to play in the grand finale at Lugogo where the overall winner who will win a brand new Toyota progress, 2 million and a pool table.
The winner also automatically becomes Nile special ambassador.
