Tues, 30th July Result:
Nsuma 2(4)- 2 (5) Ngabi Nsamba
Bika Title favorites, Ngabi Nsamba went through Hell and back to Heaven as they rallied from a goal down to equalize against lowly Nsuma in an exciting Bika Bya Baganda football fixture played at Nakivubo Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Ngabi Nsamba, who won the Bika Shield in 1987 and 2007, took the lead through a Nasifu Kabuba neat tap-in following a telling cross from former SC Villa, Victors, Kinyara and Masaka L.C player, Alioyious Lubega in the 23rd Minute of the game.
However, their joy was short lived when Nsuma’s Edward Bakabawala replied in similar fashion before center referee Fred Kawooya called for a half-time break.
Nsuma, returned back a better side and their efforts at Ngabi Nsamba’s goal paid friuful dividends as Faruk Nkolo’s low drive easily beat Meddy Matovu in Ngabi Nsamba’s goal posts. The goal sparked off wild celebrations from the players and fans from the rival clans who attended the game.
With minutes clicking very fast, Ngabi Nsamba looked for that equalizer which they eventually got through a penalty kick with just 2 minutes to full time. Nsuma defender Ivan Lwajjo handled the ball in the forbidden area and the former Lugazi United, Kyaggwe Ssazza and KCCA player, Titus Lubega did no mistake as he perfectly converted the resultant kick sending Kira Young’s goalie, Peter Ssekanabi the wrong way.
In the penalty shoot-out, Nsuma scored 4 kicks through Deboss Demba, Edward Bakabawala, Isaac Ssekanabi and Robert Lukanka before Ngabi Nsamba’s goal keeper who was only in the goal posts because CHAN Cranes goalie, Hamuza Muwonge did not turn up for the game, saved the kick from Farouk Nkolo.
Ngabi Nsamba scored all their penalty kicks courtesy of well coverted kicks from Titus Lubega, Moses Ndawula, Swaibu Mudde, Bruhan Matovu and Joseph Lubega. The latter scored the winning penalty that booked Ngabi Nsamba a second round berth with tournament 5 time record Champions, Lugave Clan on Wednesday, 7th August.
Action resumes on Wednesday 31st July when Nsenene hosts Namugoona at Nakivubo Stadium. The winner of the tie will face the 1996 and 2006 champions, Mpindi in the two legged next round.
