Becca Mwanja and Flavia Namakula redeem themselves by winning the Uganda Ladies Section Tombstone golf tournament that was held at the par 72 Kitante golf course on Saturday.

Mwanja was it top form to claim the tricky tournament that had several golfers collapsing on the course. Mwanja who recently was on the Eastern side in the Inter-Region golf tournament returned to the club house on hole number 1 on the appron to win the one day event that sponsored Smile Communications and Pepsi Cola.

Flavia Namakula, scooped Ladies group A 10 yards to green number 1 to scoop one of her accolades on a very fruitful day for her on the course. She also won the Ladies nearest to the pin and longest drive.

A total of 164 amateur golfers from around the country participated in this second edition of this tournament that is organised by the Uganda Ladies Section of the Uganda Golf Club.

Rose Azuba, was the Ladies group B winner with 235 yards to the green number 1. In Tombstone, golfers begin their rounds with an allotment of strokes and they play until their strokes run out.

The golfer who makes it farthest around the golf course is the winner. Group C was won by Entebbe Golf club’s Annet Kiconco with one foot from hole 18 to claim this group. Patrick Kabogoza, was the men’s winner group A with 30 yards to the green number 1.

While group B was won by Kenyan Nyaga Ngari 180 yards to green number 1. Amanya Mushega, was group C winner with 20 yards to green number 1. Guest winner was Kabale’s Proscovia Zawedde with Inside hole number 1.

The men’s longest drive was won by Willy Deus Kitata, while the Men’s nearest to the pin wasw won by Damani Nikhi. Herman Mutawe, beat 12 professionals to claim the pros prize with 67 gross.
