National golfer and defending champion Lawrence Muhenda, will be eyeing a double when the Castle Lite Onito Memorial golf tournament tees off at the 9-hole Jinja golf course tomorrow.
“I am looking forward to the tournament and I strongly believe I can retain my crown once again,” a confident Muhenda said. “I have a strong battle ahead and I know their several golfers who will want to depose me.”
Muhenda, who plays out of Toro Golf Club, pointed out that his biggest challenger will be Entebbe’s Willy Deus Kitata, Peter Sendawula, together with his club mates and younger sibling who he beat last year Adolf Muhumuza, Ronald Rugumayo, Ronald Otile, Kasese’s Happy Robert, Richard Baguma, Joseph Cwinyai, Entebbe’s Henry Lujja, Patrick Mwaka, Abbey Bagalana,Ronney Bukenya and many more golfers from around the country.
This year’s event will see the gross players playing on Thursday and Friday together with the professionals who have a cash kitty of 7 million Uganda shillings.
The net players then will conclude on Saturday while Kenyan golfers from Kitale and Kakamega will be hosted by the sister club on Sunday to wrap up a great tournament.
Nile Breweries under their brand Castle Lite have sunk a total of 70 million into this prestigious Uganda Golf Union calendar event.
