The 2005 Middle weight Champion and 2007 Mr. Kampala 1st runner up Ben Lukwago was crowned Mr. Kampala 2013, at Mt. Zion Hotel after defeating a field of over 80 muscle men.
The bodybuilding contest concluded nearly unnoticed as it attracted few spectators last Sunday.
Uganda National Body Building and Fitness Association has been experiencing difficulties organising the competition due to financial constraints and a small audience, for the last decade.
The unmatched winners of the contest were Robert Ssenyonjo in Bantam weight (62Kg), Ali Katamba in Welter weight (65Kg), Sam Kalema in Light weight, Ben Lukwago in Middle weight (68Kg), Robert Yayiro in Light Heavy weight (76Kg) and Douglas Ssebugwawo.
The Grand title and prize however went to Ben Lukwago, as he replaced long-time champion Ivan Byekwaso who did not take part in the event, as he focuses on the Mr.Uganda title later this year.
“I am very happy, I thank everyone who has been supporting me, my family, friends, supporters and sponsors,” excited Ben Lukwago revealed.
