National Swimming Trials
At Green Hill Academy, Namuwongo
CANA Zone 3 & 4 Championships: 24-27 April 2014
At Kampala Parents School.
The stage is set for the national swimming trials this Saturday at Green Hill Academy in Namuwongo. Uganda’ best swimmers in Jamilia Lunkuse,
Joshua Ekirikubinza, Arnold Kisulo, Maya H, Charlotte Athieno,Conrad Gaira, Kathleen Noble and Elisha, Joshua’s younger brother will be battling to post the best times as the quest for qualification to the CANA Zone 3 and 4 meet looms.
“These trials are targeted to pick the best performers to represent Uganda in the CANA meet”, says Ronald Rukale, the Uganda swimming federation president
16 year old Jamilia Lunkuse, the 2012/13 USPA swimmer of the hopes to even better her splendid CANA zone 3 and 4 Zambian performance where she tallied an individual high 8 medals and help team Uganda finish 5th overall.
“God on my side, i will do better times ,”, a press shy Jamilia spoke to the Kawowo Sports Scribe. She will participate in the freestyle, butter fly and breast strokes
Over 100 swimmers in the trials with elite names like Experienced Ganzi Mugula and other experienced guards from 10 countries of South and east Africa are expected to feature in the championships next year with each accorded 2 slots in each category.
Kenya are the defending champions.

CANA is the African Swimming Confederation: Confédération Africaine de Natation. It is the Continental Association charged with overseeing swimming for Africa.
CANA was founded in 1970, with 7 members. As of 2013, the Confederation now boasts of 43 members, including Uganda, the Pearl of Africa nation.
The Nations are divided into 4 Zones:
