1st Leg U-20 World Cup Qualifier:
South Sudan 0 – 9 Uganda
Ugandan Under 20 women’s football produced an historic match winning performance away from home against her South Sudan counter parts with a 9-0 humiliation at the National Stadium in Juba on Saturday.
Viola Nambi scored a hat trick before braces from Ritah Kivumbi, Hasfah Nassuna, one a piece from Skipper Stellah Nassuna and Rukia Queen ,a second half Substitute completed the rout.
“The girls played according to instructions, we expect to qualify”, said Mariam Kalega, a team official in a phone interview with Kawowo Sports.
The Ugandan team is expected back in the country on Monday and will straight away embark on the preparations for the return leg due in a fortnight.
The second leg will be played between Sept. 27, 28 and 29 at Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala.
The winner in this fixture will then play Egypt. From there 8 teams will be grouped to play in
The African Football Women championship in Namibia come October 2014 where the top 3 winners will straight away qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Canada.
Other African teams that will play in the qualifiers include; South Africa, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
Seventeen African Teams will compete in the qualifiers.
