October 12th and 19th.

Despite being brand new to the casual rugby fan, the East African Rugby Super Cup has finally come closest to the door step. Mid-October has been scheduled for yet another rugby battle for ‘Migingo Island’.

The winner of the rugby league in Kenya, Top Fry Nakuru RFC will face the winner of the rugby league in Uganda, MTN Heathens in a two legged fixture to take place on 12th and 19th October at Nakuru Sports Club, Kenya and Kyadondo Rugby Club, Kampala respectively.

According to the event host and main organizer Edward Ochieng, Chairman Jinja Rugby Club, this new idea is based on improvement and provision of more training time for the national rugby cranes since they will have more time together throughout this competition.

“For me, I look at it as getting champions from the region. This year Kenya and Uganda will compete and may be next year; we shall have other countries like Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanzania on board.” Ochieng stated.

Cash prizes worth ten million Uganda shillings will be up for grabs as well as player allowances.
